ESBB is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

Scope

This statement applies to the temporary website at esbb.org: the start page, the Imprint, the Privacy Policy and this statement. It will be reviewed when the new ESBB website is launched.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 define requirements to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content may not fully conform to the standard; see “Known limitations” below.

How we assessed this website

Self-assessment by the web team, 25 September 2026:

  • Automated testing with axe-core against the WCAG 2.1 level A and AA rules on every page type.
  • Keyboard-only use: all links and buttons can be reached and used, the focus is always visible, and a “Skip to content” link is available.
  • Layout at a width of 320 CSS pixels and at 200 % zoom without horizontal scrolling.
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1.
  • Animations are switched off when the “reduce motion” setting of the operating system is active.

Display settings

The accessibility button in the header (next to “Get in touch”) opens a menu where you can enlarge the text, switch on high contrast, underline all links, stop animations and increase text spacing. Your choice is stored only in your browser (local storage, no cookie) and can be reset at any time. Your own browser and system settings, such as zoom, contrast or screen readers, keep working as usual.

Known limitations

  • Cookie consent banner: the banner and its settings dialog are provided by a third-party plugin (CookieYes). We have tested them, but their design and behaviour are controlled by the provider.
  • Event image: the image for the Europe Biobank Week Congress contains text (logos, dates and location). The same information is given as text next to the image and in the image’s text alternative.
  • Previous website: pages of the previous website are temporarily unavailable and are not covered by this statement.
